Cosmetology in Office 2007 Ready 2007


Grade level 11-12. May be taken 3 times with a grade of "B" or better to advance. $40 lab fee.‌


Cosmetology is a job-oriented course of instruction with all hours accumulated toward the 1,650 hours required for Alaska state licensing. The hours and operations earned are transferable within Alaska.


In first semester students learn about the different opportunities within the field of cosmetology , sanitation/disinfection, permanent waving and women’s hair cutting. In second semester students begin to learn about chemicals used in the salon and will be learning hair coloring, hair lightening, men’s hair cutting, finger waving and salon management. In the third semester, students focus for the State Board Exams requirements by increasing their speed and accuracy on the practical subjects learned in the first and second semesters.

Normandy Huckins - Instructor

Ms. Huckins has a hairdresser’s and an instructor’s license, and a Type M teaching certificate. She is also a current Trendsetters instructor and has won product sales awards at Trendsetters. She has two children, and was born and raised in Kodiak, Alaska; crafting; fishing and camping.
